Leadership Training
Over the years Chris has had the opportunity and priviledge to be involved in helping with the development of church leaders. He has used a number of resources and courses, some of which are detailed as below. He has also made available a number of 'self-assessment' tools for leaders to help them consider their role as leaders and potential areas for development. These can be found by clicking here.
Training small group/potential small group leaders.
John Ortberg defines an effective small group as:
"A place where lives are transformed through community."
The Christian disciple's transformation must be toward Christlikeness. This can be assisted very effectively in a small group setting where genuine ‘life-changing’ community can be formed.
This course has been designed to help a church explore the amazing potential of small groups and to begin the process of equipping small group leaders. The course will consider the Biblical principles of community and examine the practical methods by which an environment can be created in which people in the church can grow as followers of Christ and flourish.
The course is normally run over 4 or 5 evenings and is suitable for church leaders and existing/potential small group facilitators/leaders. Click here for more details.
Leadership Seminars
Chris can adapt and tailor seminar content to suit you church’s requirements. Here is an example of two such seminars which he has delivered to leaders within the Church of Scotland:
(a) The importance of developing and maintaining 'value -centred leadership' and vision. - There are 2 aspects to this -'value-centred leadership' and 'vision'.
This seminar considers Biblical God honouring values around which churches may take shape and develop. There is a very helpful exercise designed as part of this seminar involving the attendees and encouraging useful discussion.
The second part of this seminar considers the importance and need for 'vision' in the local church. Again there is an excellent Biblical exercise which is used to focus discussion around 3 key principles of God honouring vision.
(b) Communicating your cause to others - There are 6 important points to this seminar that are designed to help the attendees asses 'where they are' in regards to their leadership and communication. In considering these, practical ways are suggested to develop these points to the benefit of both the leader and the church.
